  • As a financial advisor, I develop customized, financial strategies for individuals and families so that they can meet personal financial objectives and goals in an appropriate timeframe. Some of those goals might be to retire early, fund college education, purchase a vacation home or to simply organize their personal expenses.
  • Along with financial planning, I have some assets under management from individuals who roll old 401K over to my financial care. I am responsible to choose the appropriate investments for my clients depending on their risk tolerance and their time horizons. After these investment portfolios are developed, it is my responsibility to meet with the client periodically to adjust their portfolios appropriately in case there are changes in their risk tolerance that would warrant an adjustment.
  • I am responsible to prospect my own clients by working at Waddell & Reed booths during shows, fairs and expositions. I am to develop leads and network with other professionals to grow my business. Much of my prospecting comes from making phone calls and meeting with individuals who could introduce me to others.

Security Guard

  • As a security guard, I was the first line of defense against trespassers into the plant. I was responsible to weigh trucks when they come in carrying various cargos.
  • I conducted various security rounds looking for fire, smoke and water damage as well as trespassers. I was responsible for locking and unlocking certain doors and gates.
  • Much of my duties consisted of looking out for the safety of the workers in the plant. Those duties included being observant of safety hazards like water spills and hazardous chemicals, advancing solutions to solve problems like finding ways to save the plant money and conducting risk assessment on the parking lots and other open areas in the plant that may be vulnerable to trespassers and possible industrial espionage contingencies.

Police Officer

  • As a police officer, I was responsible for the enforcement of the crimes code, vehicle code and various ordinances. As a police officer, I was responsible for building criminal cases against suspects by conducting investigations, collecting evidence and following through with a hearing and a trial in a court of law.
  • Much of my duties require one on one interaction with the public such as the questioning of witnesses or the interviewing of suspects.
  • My interactions with the public were skilled enough to defuse very volatile situations, comfort victims of rape and interactions with children.
  • I was responsible for completing incident reports logging evidence if any was collected. I had to generate accurate reports detailing all of my daily activities as well as more intricate forms like criminal complaints and affidavits of probable cause.
  • I participated in community policing activities when these activities became available. These activities involved interaction within the community giving out glow sticks during Halloween, participating in safety checkpoints and others.
  • My duties were not all solitary, but I had to work with a team of officers within my department and with the surrounding departments. Some of those interactions included the participation in ceremonies during Fallen Officer's Week, working with the DUI Task Force, working with the Mifflin County Drug Task force as well as providing back-up for officers when they needed assistance.

Police Officer - Officer in Charge

  • My duties with Port Royal Police Department were very similar to my duties with Armagh Township Police as far as the general duties as a police officer.
  • With Port Royal Police Department, I was the Officer in Charge being responsible for the police department. As OIC, I was responsible for the scheduling of officers and I was instrumental with the marketing of our police department to surrounding municipalities so that they will purchase police protection hours from Port Royal.
  • Port Royal Police Department served Port Royal Borough, Mifflintown Borough and Fermanagh Township in Juniata County.
  • As OIC, I organized various community events like bicycle rodeos and hayrides to serve the kids in Port Royal and the surrounding areas. The organization and planning of these events required a detailed plan describing the funding sources, purchases, time loss of officers involved and benefits that the department and the community would yield from the event. Some of those events included: o A child fingerprint program where we would photograph and fingerprint children so that parents would have a detailed record of their children if they became missing.
o Bicycle rodeos where we would raise money and purchase bicycle helmets, repair kits, water bottles and other bicycle equipment that we would offer as prizes. We would make sure that all of the kids had a helmet and that their bikes were in working order. Kids would then participate in a small obstacle course demonstrating bicycle safety. After it was over we would have a cookout.
o During the Halloween Season, we would have a hayride taking the kids on a ride through some of the local farmer's fields. We would use the opportunity to talk about Halloween safety and give out prizes to the kids.
  • I had to generate detailed monthly reports describing the department's activities in the various coverage areas. I had to answer questions that the different governing bodies, the general public and the media had during the council meetings.
  • Near the end of my tenure at Port Royal, I was arranging to have a column in the local newspaper where I would answer questions regarding laws and the criminal justice system.
