Responsibilities: determining medical and nutritional eligibility and providing nutrition education and counseling to WIC participants. As a CPA (competent professional authority), as defined by WIC federal and state regulations, I assess and document dietary habits and nutritional risk of WIC participants and prescribe appropriate food packages. In addition, I supervise and provide paraprofessional nutrition education training to nutrition aides, volunteers and student interns working in the nutrition unit at the main office and at outreach sites.
