Identified potential new business opportunity to transfer aerospace technology to forensic science field. Performed market research and met with local law enforcement and forensic officials to determine needs. Developed program plan and managed design and development. Patent awarded.
  • Designed and developed a computer aided process model for analyzing composite cure cycles. Model provided degree of cure and temperature profiles based on boundary conditions. Developed lab tests to verify the accuracy of the model. Led test activities and performed all analytical data reduction. Model successfully predicted temperature and degree of cure profiles. Shuttle hardware was being scrapped because there was no method to verify cure when a discrepancy occurred. Millions of dollars in scrapped hardware each year because this technology did not exist.
  • Led a cross organizational team to design test article for sub-scale rocket motor. Coordinated efforts with internal and external customers team to identify design requirements and analysis of design. Developed test program to provide necessary data to anchor analytical models. Need existed to understand behavior of composites in the supersonic region of solid rocket motors. Analytical tools were needed to investigate shuttle flight anomalies and critical to flight safety. Program successfully provided needed data to analysts for models.
