Downtown San Diego Quiet Zone: This project consisted of work at twelve (12) grade crossings to enhance corridor safety by upgrading railroad signals, traffic signals and civil surface improvements that will permit the FRA to designate this as a "Quiet Zone" and not require trains to blow their horns. I acted as the point of contact with the Contractor and coordinated with stakeholders including NCTD, MTS, BNSF, SDG&E and various departments with the City of San Diego. I was responsible for recommending changes to the work, monitoring construction progress, review of submittals, oversight of inspection, negotiating change orders and recommending payment to the Contractor.

Construction Manager on the Torrey Pines Water and Sewer Installation Project

Worked with NCTD and the Contractor to ensure that complex integrated mechanical systems operated correctly and all deficiencies were resolved to owner satisfaction. Managed the Safety Certification to meet FTA and CPUC approval. Kept project under 5% of budget.
  • Coordinated three City of San Diego departments, each with individual funding criteria and procedures, as Construction Manager on the Torrey Pines Water and Sewer Installation Project, a night-time construction project in La Jolla, CA.
  • Resolved major environmental problems that delayed the schedule of construction for the MTDB trolley maintenance facility and maintained communication in an adverse contractual relationship. The project was completed with contingency costs in good shape. Extra environmental costs were eventually recouped via litigation.

Resident Engineer on the Hilltop and Euclid Demolition and Abatement Project for the City of San Diego Southwestern Redevelopment Agency. A $100,000.00 project to remediate hazardous materials, demolish a block of existing abandoned residential houses and grade out the lots for future development. 
 
Resident Engineer on the Sprinter SWPPP project, San Marcos, CA, North County Transit (NCTD). A $450,000.00 project to provide supplemental SWPPP measures (temporary and permanent) to facilitate project approval by the State Water Board. 
 
Performed various assignments including developing a Quality Assurance Plan for the Deconstruction of Parking Structure at John Wayne Airport, Orange CA., writing various proposals, performing various constructability reviews, and developing 4-scale drawings to facilitate bridge construction.

  • Geotechnical Repair for Multi Unit Apartment, South Orange County. Program Manager for the geotechncal repairs to an existing 750 Unit apartment Complex. The work includes underpinning 5 apartment units, stabilizing a 28 foot high wall with drilled tieback anchors, and stabilizing a roadway corridor with injection grouting, caissons and tiebacks. Responsible for coordinating multiple construction Contracts; budget development; hiring and coordinating the structural, civil and landscaping designers; plan review and development of contract specifications and bidding documents; managing the construction and supervising project inspection.
  • Value Engineering for Stevens/Nardo Intersection and Widening Project for the City of Solana Beach. Reviewed plans and specifications to determine cost saving alternatives with respect to the project work.

  • Rockfall and Debris Barrier, MetLife/Highland Properties, Pacific Palisades, California. As Construction Manager, responsible for the construction of a 16' high by 400' long rockfall and debris barrier along an active landslide area. The work included developing bidding documents and specifications, scheduling the work, bidding, selection of contractors, coordination with the City of LA, the contractor, inspection and testing and material suppliers as well as final project close-out.
